"I'm so happy.
I'm happy for the fans in Boston, I'm happy for Johnny Pesky, for Bill Buckner,
for (Bob) Stanley and (Calvin) Schiraldi and all the great Red Sox players
who can now be remembered for the great players that they were."-2004
Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling
"A hundred years from now, how will we make people understand what just
happened here? How will we ever make them understand what happened The Year
The Red Sox Finally Won The World Series? There was no way they could ever
do this the good old normal way. Never. They're the Red Sox."-Jayson Stark,
ESPN.com
"We wanted to do it so bad for the city of Boston. To win a World Series
with this on our chests -- it hasn't been done since 1918. So rip up those
'1918' posters right now." -2004 Red Sox first baseman Kevin Millar
"I dreamt about this day. I said my prayers every night to the big guy:
'Bring us a World Series."-Johnny Pesky, former Red Sox infielder after
WS victory

I think if you're Red Sox,
well, it's something you're born with, and affection you have."

SIGN LOWE,
SIGN VARITEK, SIGN NOMAR, LET PEDRO RUN?
|
Where are the Red Sox Priority's for the Big Four?
-
Lowe is an injury free warrior!
-
Varitek since elbow surgery has been solid, posting
career stats. last year!
-
Nomar since his wrist issue has been dependable, his
heel shouldn't be a major long term setback.
-
Pedro, small in stature, cuff issue, isn't throwing
hard in S.T., is 32 years old and will demand a huge
contract. Do we let him run, invest in the other
3, and put our $$ toward the future?

Manny Fights to Make Squad
I'm trying to make this team, there's
only one spot left,'' Ramirez said.
``New manager, I've got to
surprise him, that's the way I think. I've got to surprise him, man,
that's the way I think. Every year's a new year, whatever you do next
year, it's all over. This is the year, man.''

Now that the smoke has cleared from the A'rod Trade
"The Evil Empire Alert" has been lowered to Elevated (keep aware of
suspected activity but no know threat is imminent)

"Anyone
thinking that A-Rod has shifted the balance of power in the American
League back to the Yankees is in for a surprise"- Red Sox Pitcher
Scott Williamson - Full

Q:
Curt Schilling gave up his first career MLB homerun to?
A:

Jason Varitek Is the Backbone to the Red Sox
Pitching Staff and my personal favorite player. |
Jason Varitek holds the Red Sox pitching staff together
like superglue did when Peter Brady broke his parents vase in "The
Brady Bunch" episode #43. He is a workhorse & a mentor for even
the senior pitching staff on the Red Sox.
"I won't second-guess him again," Williamson said.
"With Ramon Hernandez, he wanted a slider and I wanted a split. I shook
him off and threw the split and hung it and he hit it out of the park."
Williamson was new to the American League, having come over from the
Reds just three weeks earlier. He quickly learned that it's all but
impossible to know more about opposing hitters than Varitek does.

SOME PRE-SEASON PREDICTIONS:
-
Pedro will be a Yankee in 05' -see BII
article "Pedro
In Pinstripes"
-
Nomar will play on the West Coast in 05'
(Remember he is whipped now so whatever the wife says goes) or 2nd base
for the Yankees- have to throw that in as it is a possibility
-
IMAGINE -AROD, JETER, GARCIAPPARA INFIELD IN
NY? ...(I will take this site down and denounce my faith in humanity)
-
Sox will retain the services of Mueller,
Varitek, Lowe, Millar
-
Ortiz will want to test the market in order
to get playing time at 1st then will sign with the Red Sox when he
realizes his Mo Vaugnesque frame is more needed as a DH
-
Red Sox will win the wild card behind NY,
beat Oakland in four games and beat the Yankees in a 7 game blood bath.
(I can't argue that the Yankees may be a better regular season team thus
I predict they will win the division, but a 7 game series with healthy
Red Sox pitchers evens the matchup in the playoffs)
-
Another ridiculously queer slogan will
emerge, Instead of "Cowboy Up" expect to see something along the lines
of "Pony Down" or "Giddy up Horsey".
 |
A'rod Trade
certainly gives Nomar a little bargaining leverage!
Certainly can't afford to lose him now. What do you want Nomar?
110 over 7
years? 120? 130?

Underdogs
Again

|
Still in
shock and reacting to the A'Rod move. The one positive swing I see to this
whole situation is that we are underdogs again!
This will just
make the victory that much sweeter.
As Curt Shilling
said on the SOSH website:
"Yankees
are going to be real real good, so let's move on, let whatever happens
happen, and focus on the fact that the best Boston Red Sox team in the
last 100 years takes the field in 7 days, for a ride that is guaranteed to
be the most memorable of any of our lives over the next 8 months, and
enjoy the hell out of it."
"I
like playing shortstop and I'm young," the 25-year-old said. "I
want to play it until I'm 35 and then I'll study the possibility of being
moved." -Arod

BOONE
HEADS!
First a homerun
over the left field wall to win the ALCS.....booneified..
Then an season
long injury playing basketball that nullifies his contract.....boonebezzled
Laughing over
the injury to Boone and the lack of depth at third base on the open market
we figured we just got that edge that we needed to truly be a better team
on paper this year. How does the
"Evil Empire" react????
They go to the
best player in baseball and convince him to play third base.....boonbino
"I
would like to sign with another team and help dethrone the Yankees --
they've won too much already," Rodriguez said two days before
accepting a trade to NY.
