"A hundred years from now, how will we make people understand what just happened here? How will we ever make them understand what happened The Year The Red Sox Finally Won The World Series? There was no way they could ever do this the good old normal way. Never. They're the Red Sox."-Jayson Stark, ESPN.com

"Pedro Martinez: An Appreciation"

On November 18, 1997, I wasn't happy. Even though the Red Sox had just made a trade that would ultimately change the course of the franchise, I wasn't thrilled about it. The Sox had sent pitchers Carl Pavano and Tony Armas Jr. to the Montreal Expos for Cy Young Award-winning pitcher Pedro Martinez. Back in those days, the Red Sox management was known for their stingy ways, and Martinez would be a free agent after the 1998 season. I figured he'd play in Boston for one season and be gone the next.

Top 500 HR hitters of all time list

(Could Manny finish his career in the top 10? He needs 108 more and is 34 years old)

(Other active players to note: Alex Rodriguez, Andrew Jones and Vlad Guerrero are all on pace to to be close to he top of this list if they play long enough. Albert Pujols is very young and has already hit 227 HR's. Nomar' next HR will be his 200th career.   Barry Bonds could be the all time HR leader if he plays another full season.)

"The Classiest of Red Sox"

It didn't make big news when he was released by the Pittsburgh Pirates during spring training of 1995. Red Sox general manager Dan Duquette rescued him from the scrap heap, and it was one of the best moves he ever made in his tenure in Boston. But at the time, we didn't know that one of the great gentlemen to ever wear a Red Sox uniform had just joined the club. Full Article

One big happy family:

I recently moved from Tennessee to Atlanta, leaving
my friends, family, and job because my husband was
relocated. We are huge Red Sox fans and were thrilled
that his company had tickets for the Braves/Red Sox
series. We went to all three games and had the
Greatest time. There seemed to be more Sox fans than
Braves fans. Everyone was so nice and we all greeted
each other with smiles, hugs, and hi-fives. Being
away from my family has been rough because we don't
know anyone here. This weekend for the first time
since we moved, we felt like we were home, surrounded
by our family. So, if you could let all the Sox fans
that were in Atlanta know that we are so thankful that
for that weekend, we had a huge family here!

Rock Bottom?

Sox swept by Twins with 5-3 loss, as bad as it gets for Sox

Hopefully this is the lowest of the "peaks and valleys" that come along with a 162 game baseball season.

The dogs showed up in Minnesota.

Lets hope they don't follow this team to Atlanta!

Ortiz was absolutely robbed when a deep hit ball, that was surely a HR hit a speaker hanging in fair territory.  The ball bounced into back in play resulting in most likely one of the longest hit singles in baseball history.

Riske traded for minor league reliever

"Tune Out YES"

Living here in New York City, I am able to see most of the Red Sox games on NESN, the home broadcast station of the Red Sox. I see it either on the MLB Extra Innings package from my home, or at my favorite bar, Professor Thom's, in Greenwich Village. Don Orsillo and Jerry Remy are a pleasure to listen to call games. They have such great chemistry together, and I love The Remdawg's self-depreciating sense of humor.continued

"Youk!"

When the Red Sox made a major reshuffle of their infield for the 2006 season, one player was basically an afterthought in most people's eyes. Kevin Youkilis was thought of more as trade bait for an established player than to be a regular starter for the Red Sox.  Continued
