If you haven’t seen the reason why Tim Thomas allegedly skipped Monday’s White House visit, check out the explanation he posted on Monday night via facebook:

I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People.
This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government.
Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL.
This is the only public statement I will be making on this topic. TT

Well, Tim, now I’m just mad that you tried to take on the Government without telling me first. I’ve been trying to start the revolution since 1989, bro…why didn’t you give me a heads up? I really would have joined the cause. I hate the government and SOPA and the Indefinite Detention Act and all that stuff, too. But this was no way to start a revolution. Everyone shows up at the White House and the media is going “Hey, where’s Tim? Where’s the leader of the team? Then 5 hours later TT drops a bomb on facebook “Sorry bros, just off rebelling against the Government machine. I started a rogue splinter cell and will now be referred to only as Operative X.”

C’mon man you gotta give us a warning before we take on the WHITE HOUSE. Wouldn’t you wanna start a little smaller than that? Or at least let us know the day before. I didn’t even have time to clean my musket and all of a sudden I find out the revolution is ON.

I could understand Thomas taking on Obama to a degree, but you have to be a little more tactful than that. You can’t just no-show and leave your team there hanging. Who knows, maybe TIm Thomas is the greatest American patriot of our time and in 20 years we will be living in a new nation where hockey pucks are the national currency and everyone has a Michigan accent. But unless Tim Thomas actually goes founding father on this bitch and leads us to the promised land I think he really botched the whole protest thing.

To be honest, from where I’m standing his explanation smells like a big pile of bear poop. Thomas is a hardcore Republican and he didn’t want to shake Obama’s hand and look him in the eye and call him “Mr. President”. I hope I’m wrong (but don’t think I am) because that is pretty soft. A lot of people – even many democrats – have some sort of beef they’d like to hash with Obama. Here Thomas could have talked to the guy face to face. But he wouldn’t do it.

Until Monday I had no idea what Tim Thomas’ political views were – nor did I want to. I just knew he was an awesome Goalie for the Bruins and that he seemed like the absolute man. And I still think he is the man – a bro’s bro – a real down to earth dude who rose up from extreme poverty against all odds to become the best goaltender in the National Hockey League. I love him for that and I will always root for him going forward – he is the rock at the center of Boston’s hockey team. I genuinely still like the guy. A lot. However, he screwed up a bit on Monday. TT needs a new PR team because this situation was NOT handled well.

PS Tim Thomas if you are reading this my musket is now cleaned and ready to go. If the revolution is, in fact on just tweet @Bornintoit or something and I’ll mobilize. #TTrevolution
